
Jalandhar November 6 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- A musical presentation was organized by the Department of Performing Arts of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar in which Shri Arnabhattacharya, who has made his mark at the international level on Sarod and Mr. Nilimesh Chakraborty who stuns everyone with his performances on Tabla, were present.
Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra, while welcoming Dr. Sucharita Sharma, Director, Apeejay Education Society on this occasion said that as an art connoisseur, she has made significant contribution in taking the college to the heights it is boasting today and this is not only commendable but also exemplary. Congratulating both the music experts, Dr. Dhingra said that it is the good fortune of the students of our college that they have got the opportunity to see the art and practice of people who are masters in music.
Shri Arnab Bhattacharya expressed their joy on being present at the college where music is embedded in every particle and Shri Nilimesh said that learning music is not a matter of one or two days but it is a sadhana and it needs consistence, patience and passion to become one with this art.
The music duo performed aalap in raga Bairagi, starting with joadalap, set in three talas, and then gave a scintillating rendition of a dhrutgat sung in one tala. They made the whole atmosphere musical. The music students put forward many of their queries to both the eminent artists, which were answered satisfactorily by both of them. Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra appreciated the efforts of Dr. Arun Mishra, Cultural Coordinator of the college and Dr. Amita Mishra, Head, Department, Music Vocal for successfully organizing this musical programme.
