Jalandhar August 19 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Anti Ragging Cell of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar observed Anti Ragging Week from 12th – 18th August under the joint aegis of World Grants Commission and Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. In Anti Ragging Week, various activities were organized for all the students of the college to make them aware of the cons of ragging and never to practice it.

Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra said that it is very important to make students aware of ragging because it has drastic consequences on both students and the educational institutions. Now, there is strict law against its practitioners and the students can be punished if found guilty.

On this occasion, the competitions as Slogan writing, poster making, essay writing and logo designing were organized to create awareness amongst the students.

Students participated with great enthusiasm and won prizes

In the competitions, the students participated with great enthusiasm and won prizes. In slogan writing, first place was given to Jaspreet Kaur, second place to Zainab Hussain and third place to Jap PahulDeep Kaur and Ritika Sharma and consolation prize to Katyayani and Simran Kaur.

In Essay writing, Akshat Sharma got first place, Pragya got second place and Bhavini and Ritika Sharma got third place and consolation prize was given to Rajat. In poster making, first place was given to Vikas Kalotra, second place to Abhishek, third place to Tegbir Singh and consolation prize to Harsimran Sidhu and Tamanna Mahajan. In logo designing, first prize was given to Kanchan, second prize to Abhishek, third prize to Diya Talwar and consolation prize to Shivalika Bansal and Tamanna Mahajan.

Also, through a documentary, the students were told how ragging not only affects the mental and physical health of the person with whom it is done but also the life and career of the student gets in danger.Mr. Vishav Bandhu Verma, Head, Department of History made the students take oath to never get involved in ragging.

On the stupendous success of Anti Ragging Week, Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra appreciated the efforts of Dr. Seema Sharma, (Dean, Anti- Ragging Cell), Dr. Monika Mogla and Dr. Kewal Krishna Nailwal for their good work.
