Jalandhar October 12 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The NSS Wing, Department of Fashion Makeover and Department of Applied Art of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar celebrated International Girl Child Day. On this occasion, the fair was organized within the college campus where the students were given a special opportunity to explore and have a unique experience for them under ‘Earn while learn scheme’.
They had put the innovative stalls considering the festive theme where live portrait making, nail art, mehendi, home decor items,wall hangings, mehendi etc. were put on display.
Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra inaugurated the event and appreciated the efforts of students and their mentors. Expressing her views on the occasion she said,” The society which values girls, their education and their rights grows and develops more than the one which does not.
In these contemporary times, investing in girls’ education and empowering them act as solid investment for the developed nation. It’s a high time that society needs to shed off their orthodox views and flow with the changing times where they should perceive girls as equal as the other gender.”
Also, she congratulated Dr. Simkee Dev, Dean NSS, Ms. Meenal Sandhu from Department of Fashion Makeover and Mr. Anil Gupta and other faculty members from Department of Applied Art for successfully organising the entire event.
