Apeejay College of Fine Arts celebrates Independence Day 2023 with great enthusiasm

Jalandhar August 10 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The NSS Wing of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar is celebrating Independence Day 2023 – Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav from 9th August – 15th August in collaboration with Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India; Regional Directorate, National Service Scheme, Chandigarh. Under the programme – Meri Maati Mera Desh, the students shall be participating in various activities like Planting saplings, tying rakhi to the trees, Rangoli competition, beautification of the campus in tricolour, paying musical tribute to the freedom fighters, oath ceremony and thus celebrate the glorious years of freedom.

Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra sharing her thoughts on the occasion views said that it is essential to entrust the spirit of patriotism in the students; so that they never forget the sacrifices made by freedeom fighters and thus enjoy and value the freedom they are enjoying today. Also, with this they should neve forget their responsibilities towards the country and always thrive to be a good, ethical and law abiding citizens.

On the first and second day of these celebrations, the students took vows and resolved that “They will contribute to the development of the country, maintain the unity and integrity of the country and preserve the heritage of the country and pass it on to future generations and also, fulfill the responsibilities honestly and will always strive for the development of the society and the country.”

Also, the NSS volunteers bowed down to their soil and saluted the heroes, lighted earthen lamps and gave the message of patriotism to all their fellow mates. In the ‘Seed Planting to Tree Planting’ programme run by the government, saplings were given to all the NSS volunteers by the college to contribute in keeping the environment green around their homes.

Principal Dr. Neeraj Dhingra appreciated the efforts of Dr. Simkee Dev, Dean, NSS Wing, for successfully organizing these activities and said that she should continue to motivate the students to participate in social activities in future as well.
