The Psychology Forum was created in 2019, with the first Psychology Fest being held the same year, with the aim of sensitizing students and faculty members towards Psychology as a discipline.
The inaugural ceremony was organized and hosted by members of the Psychology Forum, with members of faculty at the Dept. of Psychology at ACFA, Ms. Monica Sekhon and Dr. Monica Bahri, in attendance along with students.
The highlight of the ceremony were the speeches by ACFA alumni who urged the students to make the best use of their time and emphasized the importance of giving back to the community. Shaurya Sharma, former president of the Psychology Forum, talked about her experiences in the Forum and as a student pursuing Psychology in ACFA. Vaishaly, gold medalist BA Hons Psychology, conducted an interactive session with students about career paths in Psychology and the best ways to approach them.
On this occasion Poster Making Competition was organized with “Mental Health” as the theme. The event not only allowed creative expression amongst students but also succeeded in creating a safe space for them where free flow of thoughts was welcome, letting students realize the true essence of the Forum and its work towards mental health and surrounding issues.
The Psychology Fest is a much anticipated event in the college amongst students as it provides a window into various aspects of the field like counselling, testing, and therapies amongst several others.
The ceremony concluded with an announcement for upcoming events under the Psychology Fest ’21 and a vote of thanks towards Principal, Dr. Neerja Dhingra under whose directions the entire event was organized. She put forth that Mental Health is prominent subject which needs extra awareness and sensitivity. She appreciated Ms. Monica Sekhon, HOD, Psychology and Dr. Monica Bahri for successfully organizing the fest.
