Apeejay College organized activities for its students under ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ programme

Jalandhar August 12 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The NSS wing of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar organised exciting activities for the students under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsava- ‘Mera Mati Mera Desh‘ programme – an initiative by the joint courtesy of National Service Scheme Chandigarh; Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports; Government of India.

On August, 11th & 12th, the students first took a pledge to protect the trees and tied rakhis to the tress and also decorated the entire campus of the college, the staff room with tricolor. Dr. Santosh Vyas (Senior faculty, Department of Dance) recited a self composed poem on this occasion and a student – Akshat Sharma sung a patriotic song and filled everyone in the spirit of patriotism.

The students – Lavisha, Angel and Nandini presented a dance performance on the the patriotic poem – ‘me naye bharat ka chehrahu’ originally composed by ‘Alok Shri Vastav’ and NSS volunteers melodiously sung patriotic songs under the Swaranjali programme. Kritina, Bhavini and Rajat played an important role in making the programme successful by managing the stage.

Seeing the joy and enthusiasm amongst the students, Principal Dr. Neerja was extremely happy and she said, ” I am proud of students that they are participating in Independence day celebrations actively. This actually reflects the quality education that ACFA provides which ensures that the students become responsible and good citizens and value the traditions of their native land.”

Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra highly appreciated the efforts of Dr. Simkee Dev, Dean, NSS wing for successfully organizing these activities and said that she should continue to motivate the students to participate in social activities in future as well.
