Jalandhar March 15 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Arriving in Jalandhar after the announcement of her candidature by the Congress party, Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary and Phillaur MLA Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary visited the family’s native village Dhaliwal Kadian to pay floral tributes to Late Santokh Singh Chaudhary at his memorial on Wednesday.
Accompanied by Jalandhar district Congress president Rajinder Beri, Jalandhar North MLA Avtar Singh Junior, former Kartarpur MLA Chaudhary Surinder Singh, Nakodar constituency in charge Dr Navjot Singh Dahiya, former mayor Jagdish Raj Raja, former senior deputy mayor Surinder Kaur, Mahila Congress national coordinator Dr Jasleen Sethi and other party leaders and workers, Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary and Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary went to Dhaliwal Kadian after arriving from New Delhi and paid homage to the departed Jalandhar MP by laying wreaths at his memorial.
Earlier, scores of Congress workers and supporters welcomed both the leaders with great enthusiasm as the latter arrived at their residence in Jalandhar City.

Speaking with media persons, Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary thanked the Congress leadership for announcing her name for the by poll and said that she would work to live up to the expectations of people of Jalandhar.
Answering a query by the reporters, MLA Vikramjit Chaudhary said the Aam Aadmi Party government had failed spectacularly in its one year of tenure and the public was not feeling safe in the state. Instead of providing a crime free environment for the people of Punjab, he said, the government was focused on threatening the Congress workers, adding that the people would give a fitting reply to the government by ensuring a record-breaking victory of Congress in the by poll.
Jalandhar Municipal Councillors Manmohan Raju, Vipin Chadha and Tarsem Lakhotra, Goraya Market Committee chairman Dara Singh Rai, Bhupinder Singh Jolly and Meenu Bagga were among those present on these occasions.
