Jalandhar January 20 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Department of History and Fine Arts organized a National Webinar on ‘A Dancing Girls from Mohenjodaro- Arts, History and Politics.’ Dr. Ashish Kumar, Assistant Professor of Panjab University, Chandigarh was the Resource Person of the day. At the outset, Mrs. Kawaljeet Kaur, Deptt of History introduced the chief guest to the participants of the webinar. Dr. Renu Bala , Deptt of History familiarized the audience with the topic.
Formal Welcome was extended by Principal Dr.(Mrs.) Pooja Prashar. Dr. Ashish Kumar threw considerable light on the the process of identity formation of Harappan artifacts mainly Bronze girl statue from Mohenjodaro under the colonial archaeologists like John Marshall and their fellow archaeologists. He also described how colonial archaeologists gave new meanings to pre-modren artifacts and monuments through the production of state sanctioned historical narratives. At the end, Mrs. Harsimrat extended vote of thanks to the resource person and the participants.
