Jalandhar October 6 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Department of Psychology held a guest lecture in the Language Lab. Dr Ruchi Singh Gaur, President of the Rotary Club was the speaker of the day. The topic of the discourse was Geriatric and Palliative Care. As per data of the Indian Government, by the year 2050, there will be about 24 crore people above the age of sixty. Hence, a discussion on such a topic is the need of the hour.
The speaker along with her club members sensitised the students so that special care is taken of the elderly. Palliative care is the specialized medical care given to people who suffer from terminal illness. Its chief emphasis is upon improving the quality of life of the patient and his family. President Naresh Kumar Budhia ji, other members of the managing committee and Principal Prof (Dr.) Pooja Prashar applauded the efforts of the department for organising such an activity of awareness.
Rotarian Dr Ruchi Singh (President), Rotarian Navtej Singh (Secretary), Rotary Club of Jalandhar Helping Hands, Rotarian Rouble Sidana (Project Director) of Rotary Club of Jalandhar Helping Hands, Rotarian Puneet Jindal (Secretary) of Rotary Club of Jalandhar North and Srishti Sidana (President) of Rotract Club also witnessed the event.
