Jalandhar August 8 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- A five-day workshop on ‘Entrepreneurship‘ was inaugurated jointly by ‘Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC)’ of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar and IIM Calcutta. Mr. Gaurav Vashisht, awarded with Rajiv Gandhi Excellence Award and Successful Youth Entrepreneurship Award, was present in this workshop as a Resource person.

Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra warmly welcomed him and said that the Entrepreneurship Development Cell of our college helps the students to become successful entrepreneurs and informs them about essential business skills and experienced mentors in this field. It also helps in providing them constant guidance to brighten their career. Highlighting the importance of this workshop, Dr. Dhingra said that the future of India lies in young entrepreneurs.

It is better to become a successful entrepreneur and provide employment to others

Today, instead of struggling to find employment, it is better to become a successful entrepreneur and provide employment to others. Ms Garima Arora, Dean, EDC Cell, apprised the students about the achievements of Mr. Gaurav Vashisht and said that he is a professional, research scholar and also works as a mentor in various budding startups and business schools like IIM, IMT, JIMS, Pearl Academy of Fashion. In addition to this, he works as a guest lecturer at Ashoka University.

Addressing the students, Mr. Gaurav Vashisht said that before becoming an entrepreneur, we have to become familiar with the problems that occur in the field and the essential qualities of becoming an entrepreneur. One should also be wise enough to differentiate between the right kind of opportunities and take a right decision whether to grab or leave an opportunity. He added that there is a big difference between an entrepreneur and a businessman.

A businessman moves forward by following the traditional rules, while an entrepreneur starts his work from the point of view of the consumer and becomes a guide for others. Mr. Gaurav told the students that the entrepreneur should know which idea will run for a long time and should also have knowledge of the startup ecosystem. In this workshop, 50 students from different departments of the college are participating with great enthusiasm and will learn skills related to entrepreneurship from Mr. Vashisht in these five days.

Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra congratulated Ms Garima Arora (Dean, EDC), Mr. Ankit Goel and Mr. Amandeep Thakur for organizing this five-day workshop and encouraged them to continue conducting with the good work.
