Jalandhar October 10 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- An essay-writing competitions was organised by Punjabi Bhasha Vikas Kendra of Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar on importance of the mother tongue Punjabi in which students from different departments participated. In this competition, the first position was won by Nagma, whereas the second place the third positions went to Neha and Puneet Kaur respectively.
Awarding certificates to the winners, the college Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samara urged them to make continuous efforts for the development of the mother-tongue Punjabi. Reiterating the commitment of the College to the preservation of Punjabi language and culture, he hoped that the Punjabi Language Development Center would achieve the goal it was established for.
The Coordinator of the Center Dr. SS Nagra said that the purpose of such competitions is to promote literary activities in the mother-tongue Punjabi. The occasion was witnessed by the presence of Dr. Surinder Pal Mand Head of the Department, Dr. Harjander Singh Sekhon, Prof. Kuldip Sodhi and Prof. Balraj Singh were also present.
