Jalandhar April 21 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- According to the guidelines of a national program entitled ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’, the I-Social Club of PCM SD College for Women, Jalandhar organized a Group Discussion on ‘Tribal Folktales of Arunachal Pradesh’. Arunachal Pradesh is a land of lush green pastures, snow clad mountains and sparkling river water. It is a house to innumerable tribes and ethnicities. In the discussion, students were given an account of three folktales of Adi, Apathani and Mishmee tribes.
‘Birth of Mithun’, ‘Shyam and the Pundit’ and ‘The Fable of the Sun’ were the stories told in brief. After which the students expressed their own understanding and interpretation of the tales. The activity proved to be a healthy exercise in drawing their attention to the unrecognised tribal culture of Arunachal. Students showed avid participation.
President Naresh Kumar Budhia Ji, Senior Vice-President Vinod Dada ji, other members of the managing committee and Principal Prof.(Dr.) Pooja Prashar applauded the efforts of the club and the Nodal Officer Mrs Aabroo Sharma in conducting such an activity of awareness in the national interest.
