Jalandhar September 9 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- As per the Govt. of India’s directions, Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar inaugurated National Nutrition Month. Grievances Redressal Cell, N.S.S. units and Eco Club in collaboration organized a guest lecture and medicinal plants plantation drive in the campus. The resource person of the event was Mr Rashpal Singh, Ex General Manager UCO Bank, who has worked for rural development in different parts of India.
Principal Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra in his message said that females play very important role in country’s socio-economic growth and if they are not mentally and physically strong, the development of a country is very difficult. Dean, Academic Affairs Prof Jasreen Kaur, along with Prof Gagandeep Kaur and Prof Jaswinder Kaur welcomed the resource person with by natural flowers. Mr Singh in his address discussed the economic aspects prevailing in the country and related it to the conditions of women and youngsters.
Then, he appealed the audience to utilize things to their maximum and gave examples related to kitchen garden. He also motivated gathering to plant medicinal plants at home. Prof Satpal Singh NSS Program officer informed the gathering about different activities like Poster making, Lecture to Asha workers etc will be organized under National Nutrition Month in September 2022 and advised the students to participate in these activities.
Then, Prof Gagagnadeep Kaur paid vote of thanks. Later, a drive to plant medicinal plants in the college was initiated in which Moringa, chives etc. were planted in the college campus. Around 200 students attended this inaugural session. During this event, Prof Navdeep Kaur, Prof Jaswinder Kaur, Prof Simranjit Singh Bains, Prof Patwant Kaur, Prof Ravneet Kaur Bains, Prof Navjot Kaur, Prof Amandeep Kaur, Prof Geetanjali Kaushal, Prof Heminder Singh, Prof Surbjit Singh were present.
