Innocent Hearts celebrated Basant Panchami festival virtually

Jalandhar February 5 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The five schools of Innocent Hearts (Green Model Town, Loharan, Cantt.-Jandiala Road, Nurpur Road, Kapurthala Road) and Innocent Hearts College of Education celebrated Basant Panchami virtually with full zeal. The program started with the worship of Goddess Saraswati who is the goddess of music, knowledge and art. Flowers were offered to Mother Saraswati by teachers and students.

The teachers explained the importance of Basant Panchami to the students during the online classes. They said that worshipping Maa Saraswati purifies the intellect and develops positive thinking. They also said that with the arrival of spring, autumn comes to an end and thus the season changes. Yellow colour has a great significance on this day. People wear yellow clothes. Apart from this, the teachers made the children aware about the dragon string that they should not use the Chinese string to fly the kites.

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated Basant Panchami by organizing culinary competition and kite flying competition. The purpose of these activities was to develop creativity, thinking power and aesthetic sense in the student-teachers. Students and teachers in Basanti (yellow coloured) dresses participated in kite flying with all their heart. Vishali Arora won the first prize in kite flying.

She said that ‘It was a tranquil experience for me. I felt as if I was flying high in the sky with my kite’. To enhance the culinary skills of the student- teachers, a yellow dish preparation activity was organized, in which delicious dishes were prepared and the recipes of those dishes were shared online by the participants. These competitions were judged on the parameters of student-teachers’ attendance, implementation, texture and confidence. Nandini Luthra and Preeti got first prize whereas Aashna and Vishali Arora got second prize in ‘Yellow Dish Making’ competition. These activities also helped the student-teachers to improve their presentation skills.
