Jalandhar August 4 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Under Disha- an initiative run by Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical Trust Innocent Hearts Multispeciality Hospital, Dr. Noopur, a paediatrician addressed the mothers of newborn babies on the occasion of ‘World Breast feeding Week’. She gave tips to mothers on the need for breastfeeding. She told that mother’s milk is the best and essential for the newborn. Every infant should be given only breast milk from birth till the age of six months. ‘World Breast feeding Week is celebrated every year from 1st August to 7th August. This year’s theme is “Step Up for Breastfeeding: Educate and Support”.
Every child should get mother’s milk, is the responsibility of the whole society. All the family members must create a happy and comfortable environment for the mother to breastfeed her newborn baby. Special care should also be taken for the nutrition of the mother. There are many old and wrong concepts and beliefs about breastfeeding in our country, about which Dr. Noopur Sud explained in detail that the mother’s first milk is called ‘colostrum’; is like a nectar. It is full of vitamins and antibodies, which increase the immunity of children. For six months, the baby gets enough water from the mother’s milk.
If the mother has a fever, then she should take medicine as prescribed by the doctor.
Working mothers can store their milk in the refrigerator at a suitable temperature, which can be fed from any bowl when the baby is hungry.
The Bowry Memorial Trust always strives for the progress of society.
