Jalandhar June 14 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) is miles ahead of other educational institutions in the region in terms of quality, rankings and new age progressive education that has been introduced in the college. Students of autonomous system have extra benefits as KMV being only autonomous institution of the city, is offering student friendly examination system along with other benefits. Degrees are provided by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar while exams are held by KMV under the Autonomous system of college.

Throwing more light on it, Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that under the autonomous status, students of this prestigious institution have additional benefits under its own examination policy. Under Autonomy, KMV has introduced Continuous Assessment (CA) in all the Programmes under Continuous Evaluation System (CES) and Credit Based Continuous Evaluation Grading System (CBCEGS).

CBCEGS was introduced in Session 2018-19 for Vocational Programmes but now all the Post Graduate Degree Programmes and Post Graduate Diploma Programmes were registered under CBCEGS w.e.f session 2022-23.As per the NEP, undergraduate degree will be of either 3 or 4-year duration with multiple entry and exit options within this period, with appropriate certifications — a certificate after completing 1 year in a discipline or field including vocational and professional areas, a diploma after 2 years of study, or a Bachelor degree after a 3-year programme.

After the completion of three-year degree programme student can register for 4-year programme as it may also lead to a degree ‘with Honours/Research’. Moreover, the students will also have an option to get Masters Degree of one year in relevant field as per college norms after completion of four years Bachelor Degree.The college Management Information System is upgraded regularly by incorporating new examination related modules. The college has also registered with DigiLocker and Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) and all the data of students registered for the session 2021-22 has also been uploaded and is presently live on the DigiLocker Portal.

The End Semester Examination (ESE) Results are always declared at the earliest possible. For May 2023 ESE, the result of each programme will be declared in about 20 days after the last examination of the concerned Programme.Till Date results of 55 Programmes have already been declared.Students are not only offered compact date sheet but customised examination schedule so that if some students have any competition exam that clashes with exam date, the date sheet is immediately changed so that students do not miss any opportunity.

Apart from this there is also a provision of retests just after end semester examination in case a student has to miss any paper due to any mis happening or any other unavoidable circumstance to prevent the loss of precious whole year of the students. Another plus point of the examination system in KMV is transparency.

Students are provided opportunity to check their answer sheets within one week of the declaration of their result. If a student is not satisfied with evaluation she can apply for reevaluation of the sheet and new result is declared within a very short span of time& internal assessment is introduced to reduce burden of final exams on students.

Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi concluded by saying that KMV under autonomy is always introducing new reforms to fulfil the requirements of the students under New Education Policy and to take the quality of education at par with the top global universities.
