KMV establishes KMV Young Economist Association

Jalandhar November 1 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) celebrated “75 years of Economic Transformation” to commemorate the 75 years of Independence of India. During the celebrations, students shared their thoughts, ideasand views on economic transformation through PowerPoint presentations, Rangoli-making, and Collage-making. The event was organised by PG Department of Economics. The department has also taken the initiative to set up KMV Young Economist Association with the aim to provide a plethora of opportunities for students to learn economics beyond the classroom.

Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi inaugurated the Association by pinning the badges to the elected young talents in order to instill a sense of duty and responsibility to them. Ms. Gouri Mittal was selected as President, Ms. Sonia as Vice- President, Ms. Ramandeep Kaur as Secretary, and Ms. Harman Preet Kaur and Ms. Ishleen Kaur as Joint Secretary. Further, the students of M.A.(Economics), B.Sc.(Economics), B.A., B.Com. and BBA presented their views through powerpoint presentations on the economic transformation of the agriculture, industrial, health, transportation, education, defense and banking sectors over the past seven decades.

Ishleen Kaur from B.Sc. Eco. Sem III and Ravneet Kaur from B.A. Sem III bagged the first position in Powerpoint Presentation. Preeti, Pawanvir, Lovepreet & Neeraj from B.com Sem I and Ramandeep kaur and Soniafrom M.A. (Eco) Sem I shared the first position in the rangoli-making competition. Navneet Kaur, Anushaka, and Smriti secured the first position in collage making competition. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi lauded the students’ efforts to create effective PowerPoint presentations and beautiful rangoli designs on changing landscape of India’s economy. Madam Principal congratulated Mrs. Amarpreet, Head, PG Department of Economics and other faculty members for organizing such knowledge enrichment events.
