Jalandhar February 27 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organized a webinar on the topic Innovations in Plant Drug Development. The webinar was organized by PG Department of Botany in coordination with Institution’s Innovation Council. The resource person, Dr. Richa, Professor in the Department of Pharmaceuticals and Drug Research, Punjabi University Patiala commenced the seminar by explaining that plants are essential source of pharmaceuticals and they play a great role in the drug development.She also explained about different herbal drugs that we are using in ourdaily life.
Furthermore, she mentioned the comparative account on traditional and allopathic (modern) medicines & also described the different phytoconstituents that are used for drug processing. Moreover, she discussed the methods of extraction and its preparation & explain that by using traditional knowledge and modern scientific method a reliable medicine can be prepared which are very beneficial for humans and animals. She concluded her lecture by mentioning the uses of herbal drugs that are easily available, effective and have minimum side effects. Various inquisitive students also asked their queries from the resource person to which she replied very eloquently.
Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi expressed her gratitude to the resource person for sharing such a valuable knowledge with the students. Madam Principal lauded the efforts of PG Department of Botany for successfully organising the webinar.
