
Jalandhar August 14 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Under the able guidance of the Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen, the NSS department of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar organized an Orientation Programme ‘Maati Ko Naman – Veeron Ka Vandan’ under Meri Maati Mera Desh by the direction of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India and in collaboration with ‘PAHAL’ NGO . Captain Gurmail Singh-an Ex. Service Man was the chief guest for the occasion. On this ocassion, Freedom fighter Ashok Kumar and Tej Rajinder Singh also made their special appearance and showed students the Prime Minister award which were awarded to them for their selfless service to our country.
The programme commenced with the tree plantation campaign at the institution and Principal of the college Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen welcomed the chief guests and other dignitaries by presenting them Green Planters. The orientation started with the lighting of the holy lamp. Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen said the value of joining NSS programme to newly joined NSS volunteers. Programme Coordinator Dr. Veena Arora said the importance of NSS Programme and told that how it is beneficial for the welfare of students.

The chief guest Captain Gurmail Singh inspired female students and told that there is 50% ratio of female population in our country and they must participate in elections for the welfare of society. After that, a patriotic song “Teri Mitti Meh Mill Java” was presented by the students of music department. Prof. Harwinder Kaur, The founder Head of NGO ‘PAHAL’ made the NSS volunteer aware pertaining to the Principles of their NGO and motivated all to donate blood for noble cause.
Operator of the NGO ‘PAHAL’ cum young artist Mr. Mohit told NSS volunteers to raise voice against the evils of the society. A pledge toward the responsibility of our nation was also taken by all. Programme Advisor Dr. Anjana Bhatia gave a vote of thanks at the end of the event. Dr. Jyoti Gogia conducted the stage enthusiastically. On this event, Programme coordinator Ms. Harmanu Paul, Mr. Parminder Singh, Mr. Praduman were also present.
