
Jalandhar March 6 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- C.V. Raman Science Society of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya celebrated “National Science Day” on the theme ‘Global Science for Global Well being’in collaboration with PSCST & NCTSC, DST, Govt of India under the able guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. Mrs. Ajay Sareen. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr. Neelima Jairath, Director General, Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala. Celebrations were started with lighting of lamp followed by DAV Gaan. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen accorded green welcome to Dr. Neelima Jairath.
Dr. Neelam Sharma Dean Faculty of Sciences and In charge of C. V. Raman Science Society extended warm welcome to the chief guest, all the faculty members and students. She explained why this day is celebrated as national Science Day and working of C.V Raman Society of institution. Dr. Neelima Jairath delivered a lecture on the topic “Global Science for Global Wellness & Global Resources”. She beautifully explained why India has chosen this topic for the celebration of National Science Day. She stated that wellness is measured by Happiness Index. She defined Sustainable Development Goals.
To mark the celebration, various competitions were also organised in which students from B.Sc. & M.Sc. classes of Science participated enthusiastically. In Quiz competition, team comprising of Kritika, Rashi and Nishika of M.Sc Chemistry got first prize. Quiz was conducted by Dr. Sakshi and Dr. Vandana. In Plant Variety Show, Students participated fervently and presented various types of Ornamental/ Medicinal and Succulent Plants and also described their uses. The Incharges of Plant Variety Show were Dr. Nitika Kapoor, Mrs Ramandeep and Dr Shuchi.

In ornamental Plant category Yashika Arora of B.Sc Med Sem IV got first prize. Janvi of B.Sc Med Sem VI got first prize in Medicinal plants category.
Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen appreciated the efforts of Science Department and also encouraged students to work in the field of science. She congratulated all the faculty members, students and supporting staff of Science department and highly appreciated the efforts of students. She said that by organizing such activities, students get opportunity to show their hidden talent and the purpose of this event is to provide platform to students to showcase their scientific capabilities and talent. This helped in communication, popularization and extension of Science and Technology. She further informed that in the evening Night Sky Watch will also be organized for the students to commemorate the National Science Day.
During this event, STARTUP HMV MISSION HARYALI was launched
During this event, STARTUP HMV MISSION HARYALI was launched under Institution Innovation Council in which ecofriendly planters will be made by the students. Dr. Seema Marwaha, Dean Academics and Head of Zoology Department presented vote of thanks. She particularly thanked Punjab State Council of Science and Technology & NCTSC, DST, Govt of India and said that by organizing such activities, students get opportunity to show their hidden talent.
Dr. Anjana Bhatia, Coordinator of the event informed that Science Departments at HMV are continually working towards increasing the participation of women in Science and Technology in the region. She also played the role of Master of Ceremony. Mrs. Saloni Sharma, Dr. Jatinder Kumar, Dr. Harpreet Singh, Dr. Gagandeep, Mrs. Deepshikha, Mr. Sushil, Mr. Sumit, Dr. Deepali, Dr. Simmi, Ms. Harpreet, Mr. Ravi, Dr. Gaurav, Ms. Tanisha and Ms. Diksha attended the function.
