Jalandhar December 2 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- In solidarity with the statewide strike of PCCTU, teachers of PCM SD College struck work. The move was made to seek implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission and to condemn the proposal of Punjab Government to delink the pay-scale of grant-in-aid colleges from the UGC. They held dharnas outside their gates and maintained that no academic, sports, cultural activities and examination duties will be resumed until their demands are met.
The teachers averred that Punjab is the only state where the Seventh Pay Commission has not been implemented and such heedless conduct of the government is outrageously unacceptable. President of the local unit, Mrs Ujla Joshi asserted that their institution is all for the movement and applauded the audacity of the teachers resorting to hunger strikes.
