PG Department of Fashion Designing holds Competition on ‘Indian Traditional Embroidery’

Jalandhar December 17 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Under the guidance of Dr. (Mrs.) Pooja Prashar, PG Department of Fashion Designing organized inter class competition on ‘Indian Traditional Embroidery’. This competition was organized to celebrate the 75th year of Independence entitled as ‘Azadi ka Mahotsav.’ Indian traditional embroideries are the treasure of Indian art and history.

It is an art of decorating cloth with needlework using colorful threads. Students of B.Sc, M.Sc and B.Voc of Fashion Designing participated with full zeal and zest. They created beautiful and mesmerising traditional motifs with varied embroidery techniques like kutchwork, chain stitch, phulkari, kaseeda etc.In this competition, Anjali of B.Sc Semester V and Aman of M.Sc Semester I bagged first position, Rani of B.voc Semester V and Aditi of B.Sc Semester V got second position and Neha of B.Sc Semester V got third position.

The honourable members of Managing Committee and the worthy Principal of the college Dr. (Mrs.) Pooja Prashar felicitated and awarded the winners. She also praised the efforts of Mrs. Sunita Bhalla, Head, Department of Fashion Designing for organizing such competition and promoting traditional values among students.
