Principals’ Association thanks Central Government for crediting 60% of Post Matric Scholarship to students

Jalandhar January 21 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- A special meeting of the Principals’ Association was held under the chairmanship of President of the Principals’ Association, Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra. Post Matric Scholarship and University Semester Examinations were discussed in the meeting. On this occasion Principal Dr. Samra, Dr. S.K Arora, Principal D.A.V. College Jalandhar, Dr. Rekha Kalia Bhardwaj, Principal HMV Jalandhar, Dr. Gurdev Singh Randhawa, Principal Guru Nanak Sukhchainana, College Phagwara and Dr. R.K. Tully, Principal S.S.M. College Dinanagar issued a joint statement.

In a statement, he thanked the Central Government for crediting 60% of the post-matric scholarships for the year 2021-22 to the students. He also appealed to the Punjab government on the lines of the Centre to transfer 40% of the post-matric scholarships to the account of the students. He said that the money of last three years post matric scholarship has not been released to the colleges yet.

He said that Punjab government had promised to release scholarship money to the colleges for last three years but this amount has not been received by the colleges yet. He said that the colleges have borne the cost of fees of the students who have availed the benefit of Post Matric Scholarship for the last three years.

He also appealed to the Punjab Government to issue 40% share of the scholarship on the lines of the Center

As a result, these colleges have fallen victim to the financial crisis. Colleges are also facing financial crisis due to non-issuance of four months salary grant by the government, due to which the colleges have been unable to pay their staff for the last four months.

Therefore, he demanded from the government that the money for the last three years of Post Matric Scholarship should also be released to the colleges immediately and 40% of the Post Matric Scholarship amount for the year 2021-22 should be immediately credited to the students’ account so that colleges in crisis can run smoothly. During the meeting the preparations for the semester examinations of the university were also discussed.
