Jalandhar September 29 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- According to the guidelines of a national program entitled ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’, the I-Social Club of PCM SD College for Women, Jalandhar organized a Painting Competition on Warli Art. Warli Art is an art form that originated in Maharashtra depicting the semi-nomadic indigenous populace of the Warli tribe.
Students made use of bright coloured A4-sized sheets as their canvas where they imprinted geometric shapes like triangles, circles, squares, dots and dashes, that looked simple yet magnificently delicate. Around sixteen students took avid participation. The activity was fruitful in familiarizing students with this incredible art form of Maharashtra.
Krishma of BA Semester III bagged first prize, Kavita of BA Semester V got second prize. Gauri of BA Semester I made it to third position and Puneet Kaur of B.Com Semester V received a consolation prize. President Naresh Kumar Budhia Ji, other members of the managing committee and Principal Prof.(Dr.) Pooja Prashar applauded the efforts of the club in conducting such an activity in the national interest.
