
Jalandhar May 26 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- In the ‘Home Decor with waste material’ classes conducted by the Department of Interior Design of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar as Skill Enhancement classes for 12th standard, students were taught how to make various decorative items from waste material.
Expressing her views, Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra said, ” These classes are the opportunity for the students to learn about making things useful in an artistic and aesthetic way. This is not only about recycling the things but also it reduces the accumulation of garbage and thus protects environment.
Ms. Rajni Kumar, Ms Ramanroop and Ms Cherry from Department of Interiors taught students to make pots with jute and clay, lamps, wall hangings with bamboo sticks, cardboard and jute. They also learned to do wood engraving in the CNC workshop. Sharing their experience about these classes, the students said,”We never thought that we can make decorative items by re-using the waste material lying at home but these classes taught us various ways of doing so.”
