
Jalandhar September 4 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The college has always been a centre of attraction for music lovers, many of its students have established their mark in the music industry in Bollywood as well as Pollywood. The Department of Music Vocal provided an opportunity to the students to know the nuances of Gurmat Sangeet, in which Bhai Gurmeet Singh “Shant” ji, who has made a special place in Gurmat Sangeet nationally as well as internationally was present as a resource person.
Bhai Gurmeet Singh ‘Shant’ ji is not only an ‘A’ grade artist of All India Radio since 2013 but also well known for singing; especially Raag Mala and Tarana. He has sung 31 ragas in Kirtan Chowkis at Shri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar which are recorded in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji as well.
Gurmeet Singh ‘Shant’ ji has so far made an astounding place in America, Britain, Poland, France, Germany and Malaysia through soulful presentation of his Gurmat Sangeet and has also won many national and international honours. Bhai Gurmeet Singh Ji told the students that to make your place in the music world, not only practice but also focus and movement towards the goal is essential.

Students of Department of Music Vocal gave several presentations of devotional music and folk music in his presence on which he expressed his views and appreciation towards the students. Moreover, he added that students may continue to honour their talent by participating in such endeavours in future aa well.
Madam Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra expressing her views about this program, said that for the students associated with the field of music, we keep inviting such eminent personalities from the world of music. She further added that by knowing the qualities of different types of music, students may also recognise the talent hidden within their own selves.
Shri Gurmeet Singh ‘Shant’ greatly appreciated the efforts of the college’s cultural coordinators; Dr. Arun Mishra, Dr. Amita Mishra and Dr. Vivek Verma from the Department of Music for organising the program on Gurmat Sangeet. The faculty said that they would continue to organise similar programs in future.
