
Jalandhar July 24 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Under the able guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen, the PG Department of Psychology, Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organised a Workshop on “ An Introduction to Brain Gym”. The resource person Mrs. Grace Daniel, Internationally Certified Brain Gym Instructor and Special Educational Needs Coordinator at SENCO Cambridge International School Co-ed, Jalandhar, was welcomed by Madam Principal and Dr. Ashmeen Kaur, Head of the PG Department of Psychology, with a planter and a painting by the students of HMV as a token of appreciation.
Over the course of the workshop, Ms. Grace Daniel talked about the basic components of the human brain, which is “the source of all the qualities that define humanity” and the part the hemispheres of our brain plays to facilitate learning by various movements.

Ms. Daniel also talked about how certain physical activities like “the lazy 8” and “PACE” helps activate our brain leading to optimal storage and retrieval of information in the longer run. The Brain Gym comprises of 26 such exercises that not only help in learning but also helps regulate stress, calms the nervous system, helps in focusing and being more attentive to the present and moreover feel more energized.
On this occasion Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen discussed the importance of talking care of our brain and the pathway it creates enhancing the learning experience. Mrs. Daniel also demonstrated few exercises during the workshop. This event was attended by around 100 students from the department of psychology who participated with great enthusiasm. Ms. Parul from B.Voc (MHC) Sem 6 anchored the event. Faculty members Ms. Niharika, Ms. Shruti, Ms. Harpreet and Ms. Vanshika were present. Ms. Mehkash from B.Voc (MHC) Sem 6 gave the vote of thanks.
