
Jalandhar June 8 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Rajat, a student of B.Com IV Semester of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, has been selected for ‘Yuva Sangam‘ – a programme conducted under the joint aegis of the Ministry of Culture, All India Council for Technical Education, IIT Bombay and NIT, Jalandhar. The programme aims at promoting national integration and cultural exchange among the students belonging to different states and cultures.
2500 students of Punjab had applied for this, out of which 45 were selected. In this program of 6 days, the students were provided information about the various departments of IIT, Mumbai during the Orientation Programme. They visited various historical monuments of Mumbai like St. Thomas Cathedral Church, Clock Tower, Asiatic Library etc. in order to understand the nuances of the art of historical buildings erected during the British period.
Students also went to see the Mumbai Stock Exchange, Vidhan sabha and Vidhan Parishad, where the students met the Honorable Governor of Maharashtra, Mr. Ramesh Baisand also interacted with him. They also visited world famous heritage site ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji’ where they learnt about its minute details and its importance in our nation.
Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra appreciated Rajat for his wonderful achievement and said that the college is proud of him and wished him luck for his future endeavors. She appreciated the faculty of Commerce for guiding its students about the best opportunities available out there.
