ACFA organized Talent Hunt for the new comers

Jalandhar September 9 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- A 2 day Talent Hunt, a platform for the freshers to show case the talent, was organized at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar. More than 250 students of different departments of the college participated in it which gave them a platform to perform, showcase their talent and at the same time shed off their stage fear and boost confidence.

On the first day of the Talent Hunt several competitions were organized as Poetry Recitation, Extempore Speech, Debate, Elocution, Anchoring, Cartooning, Collage making, Clay- modelling, Photography, On the spot Painting, Rangoli, Installation, Mehendi, Phulkari, Poster- Making. The students brilliantly performed in these multiple competitions and the first three postions holders were given certificates and prizes.

On the first day – In the Elocution, Mehtab clinched the first position, followed by Ritika Sharma in second place. In the poetry recitation competition, Sukhnajot earned a well-deserved first place, while Chetan Sharma and Khushi Sharma bagged the second position, and Aditi Kashyap and Sunil Nath Narang earned the third place. The anchoring competition saw Siddharth Cheema leading the pack with a stellar performance securing the first position. Khushi Sharma gracefully secured the second position, and Rishita Upadhyaya bagged the third position.

In the debate competition, Siddharth Cheema secured first place, Shobhana Aggarwal secured second place, and Aditi claimed the third position. The competition reached its zenith with a heart-touching extemporaneous speech competition, where Siddharth Cheema emerged as a brilliant first-place winner, followed by Ahana in second place, and Shobhna Aggarwal gracefully securing the third position.

In the Poster Making competition, Tamanna Mahajan from BFA Sem-III secured the 1st position, while Kanchan from the same program claimed the 2nd position. The 3rd position was achieved by Divya Talwar from BFA Sem-I. Additionally, Diksha from BFA Sem-III received a consolation prize for their efforts. Moving on to Phulkari, Tarandeep Kaur from BD (Fashion & Textile) Sem- V clinched the 1st position. Ashi Sharma from B.Voc(PDM) Sem-I secured the 2nd position, and Pragati from BD (Fashion & Textile) Sem- V earned the 3rd position. In the Mehandi competition, Sukhmeen Kaur from BD Sem-I took home the 1st position, while Parika from BBA Sem- I claimed the 2nd position.

For Installation, a collaborative effort was celebrated as Tegbir Singh, Tamanna Mahajan, Diksha Dhiman, Manpreet Kaur, from BFA Sem-III jointly secured the 1st position. The 2nd position was claimed by Pari Kakkar, Anmolpreet Kaur, Priya Kumari from BD Sem-III. In the realm of Rangoli, Abhishek from BFA Sem-III achieved the 1st position, while Diya Malhotra from BBA Sem-III and Vansh from B.Com Sem 1 secured the 2nd position. Mangjit Kaur from BA Sem- 1 and Parul Gupta from BD Sem- I bagged the third position.

Aditi Aggarwal from B.Com Sem 1 and Aamya Jain B.Voc (Beauty and Cosmetology) were given consolation prize. Moving forward to the On The Spot Painting competition, Sahil Kumar from MA (Fine Arts) Sem- I emerged victorious in the 1st position. Zainab Hussain from MA (Fine Arts) Sem- I secured the 2nd position, and the 3rd position was claimed by Kavya Sharma from BFA Sem- I. Naveen and from BFA Sem- I, along with Rishi Kalia from BBA Sem- V, received consolation prizes for their commendable artistry.

In Photography, Samita from BFA Sem- I secured the 1st position. Mukhdeep Kaur from MDM Sem- III claimed the 2nd position, and Gurleen Singh from BDM Sem- I achieved the 3rd position. Moreover, Gurmehak Kaur from BFA Sem- V, as well as Amit Singh from BDM Sem- I, received consolation prizes for their photography skills. In the domain of Clay Modelling, Parul Gupta from BD Sem- I showcased their talent and won the 1st position. Ahana Chaudhary from BA Sem- I, along with Ashi Sharma from B.Voc (PDM) Sem- I, secured the 2nd position.

Kanchan from BFA Sem- I achieved the 3rd position. Aditi Kashyap from BA Sem- I, along with Krishana Yadav from BFA Sem- I, received consolation prizes for their clay modeling craftsmanship. In Collage Making, Yukti Handa from BFA Sem- VII excelled, securing the 1st position. Finally, in Cartooning, Kanchan from BFA Sem- I achieved the 1st position, while Gunsheen Kaur from BFA Sem- I claimed the 2nd position. Simrat Kaur from BFA Sem- V earned the 3rd position. Samita from BFA Sem- I, along with Jastaj Singh Brar from BDM Sem- I, received consolation prizes for their creative cartooning skills.

On the second day of the Talent Hunt, the stage items as – Music Vocal, Music Instrumental, Theatre and Dance were organised. The second day began with lamp lightening by Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra. Addressing the students, Dr. Neerja Dhingra said that she feels joyous to see the enthusiasm of the students and added ACFA’s stage is known for giving birth to the stars and legends and the history has been created by those who once stood and performed on this stage. She added Talent Hunt is organized each year to give a paltform to the budding students which helps them to recognise their talents and nourish it and also work on their flaws and shortcomings.

On the second day also, the students shone on the stage and in the Music Instrumental (Percussion) division, Sahil from BA Sem – 1 clinched the top spot, while Kavya from BA Sem – 1 secured the 2nd position. In the Music Instrumental (Non-Percussion – Indian) segment, Prabhpreet Singh of B.Voc (Sound & Tech) Sem-| emerged as the 1st position holder for his exceptional performance in Indian classical music. Additionally, Harsh from BA Sem- 1 achieved the 1st position for Lite music.

Within the Music Instrumental (Non-Percussion – Western) category, Harpreet Singh from BA 1 claimed the top spot for his mastery of the guitar, while Gaganpreet Singh, also from BA 1, secured the 2nd position for his skillful piano performance.

In Group dance, Gargi and group bagged first position, Dheeraj and group and Vansh and group bagged second position and Ishita and group and Manpreet and group secured the third position.

In Semi classical Dance, Sabha and Gargi stood first, Sneha stood second and Meenakshi and Bhumi stood third.

In Bhangra, Sourav and Kunwar Armaan Singh bagged first position, Manpreet and Mukhdeep bagged second position and Jaskarana and Palwinder bagged third position and Jannat was given consolation prize.

In Modern Dance, Vrinda, Shobhna and Tanvi bagged top three positions respectively.

In Dance Duet, Mehak and Tanya stood first, Revansh and Mehak stood second and Anaya and Mansha and Asees and partner stood third.

Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra appreciated the efforts of Dr. Arun Mishra (Observer & Cultural Coordinator), Dr. Amita Mishra (Programme Incharge) and Dr. Monica Anand (Dean, Functions) for the success of the programme.
