
Jalandhar December 5 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Annual Alumni Meet of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar marking 84th birth anniversary of Late Sardar Babir Singh, former Member Parliament, former Cabinet Minister, Punjab and former President of College Governing Council, was held today in the college campus. Mr. Harnarinder Singh Shergill, Executive Officer, Department of Local Government, Jalandhar was the Chief Guest on this momentous occasion. Welcoming the alumni and the guests, the College Governing Council President Sardarni Balbir Kaur reiterated the commitment of the college to quality education.
In his address the College Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra said that the institution owed a lot to the visionary guidance of Sardar Balbir Singh for its current status and mentioned the fact that Lyallpur Khalsa College was the only institution in North India with a Governing Council mostly comprising of its old students. He expressed his thanks towards the college alumni for their significant contribution to the institution in all possible ways.
In his address, the Chief Guest Mr. Harnarinder Singh Shergill proudly connected his achievements to the college and lauded the efforts by the college towards maintaining its association with its former students. The highlights of the event included ghazal and folk song presentation by the college students.
The stage on this occasion was conducted by Dr Surinderpal Mand. Among distinguished people present were S. Jaspal Singh Waraich, Joint Secretary Governing Council along with the staff members and other acquaintances of the college. Prof. Sanjeev Anand, Coordinator of the Alumni Association event, formally thanked the assembled guests.
