Jalandhar February 21 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Department of Punjabi of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar celebrated International Mother Language Day. Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra was the Chief Guest of the day. Putting forth her views on this occasion, she said that in order to communicate at social level it is better to be multi lingual but one should never forget the roots and one’s own mother tongue.
Madam Lovepreet Kaur from Department of Punjabi recited a self-composed poem and also a documentary created by her was shown. Mr. Sandeep Singh talked about how the age of technology has created a worst effect on the vocabulary and pronunciations of today’s youth. The pure language has today resulted in the form of slang language. Dr. Raman Dhadra made the students take an oath to respect and value their mother tongue and culture.
Dr. Anjana from Department of Hindi had organized Essay writing competition and the winners were given certificates for it. Dr. Navjot Deol gave the vote of thanks
