Jalandhar March 6 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Department of Commerce of Apeejay College of Fine Arts organized a 2 day online workshop on the topic FINANCIAL LITERACY. The workshop was conducted by National Institute of Securities Market (NISM) SEBI under Konakona Shiksha Project for the final year students of the college. Miss Anita, Security Market Trainer from NISM and Company Secretary Chartered Financial Analyst & CMA Mr. Nagesh Kumar were present as resource persons.
The purpose of the session was to inculcate financial literacy among the job oriented youth. Dr. Monika Arora, Head of the Commerce Department, formally welcomed the resource person and discussed the need and importance of such workshops.
In this workshop, Ms. Anita gave detailed information to the students about the basic concepts of security market such as capital market, primary market, secondary market, demat account and mutual funds while Mr. Nagesh encouraged the students by talking about career options in security market. He felt that they can achieve great heights by coming in this field and pursuing their career as a Portfolio Analyst, Investment Manager and Security Broker.
Expressing her views about this workshop, Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra said that for the students, interacting and learning from subject- specific experts clarify the understanding of the subject in front of them and the students also become aware about the various options related to career in front of them with which the students are not familiar earlier.
Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra appreciated the efforts of Dr. Manisha Sharma and Ms Talwinder Kaur from Department of Commerce for successfully organizing this workshop and encouraged and motivated them to continue conducting workshops on such important topics in future also.
