Jalandhar June 19 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Associate Professor, Dr. Rupali Sood, Head, PG Department of Computer Science of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar talked about the importance of computer literary and expertise. She said that in order to succeed, today’s students need to establish their supremacy in marketing by acquiring the techniques of computer in this cutting edge era. She added that especially after Covid -19, there has been a revolution in the field of computers and the demand for computer professionals has increased in the market. In the light of this situation, the careers in the computer sector too have increased.
A recent statistics has inferred that jobs in computer sector are expected to increase by 13% between 2020 and 2030. She put forth before the students that, “First you have to understand whether you want to have your own startup or you want to work in a multinational company; then accordingly they need to choose their field of study like networks, web technology, programming etc.” She also shared with the students that one can specialize in web technology, programming, database analytics or e-commerce according to their interest.
Talking about what MNCs expect from their employees, she asserted that they want only those students whose basic concepts of programming are crystal clear and who can solve problems on any platform. Along with that they expect them to simultaneously use statistical tools, techniques for data compilation and visualization, proficient in languages and Tableau as well.

Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra said that this is a golden opportunity for the students to expand their knowledge and while sitting at home, they can prepare themselves to get employment in IT in future.
