
Jalandhar April 15 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- A team of students from DAV University, Jalandhar won the first prize at Bizathon 2023, a national business idea contest organized by the university’s Department of Commerce and Business Management in collaboration with Yukti, a committee of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC). The winning team comprising Satyam, Abhinav Kumar Yadav, Gautam Kumar, and Madhav Kumar, impressed judges with their innovative business concept.
Meanwhile, second place was awarded to Samriti, Sumit Maurya, and Varnika Sood from DAV University, and Mithlesh Kumar, Amandeep Singh, Gursimar, and Harpreet from Lyallpur Khalsa College Technical Campus, Jalandhar, came in third.
The Bizathon 2023 contest was aimed at invigorating student entrepreneurs and fostering the growth of their innovative ideas. The event provided a platform for students to showcase their business ideas and learn from experienced professionals.
67 teams from leading educational institutions across India
A total of 67 teams from leading educational institutions across India, including the National Institute of Engineering (NIE), Mysuru, Don Bosco School Siliguri, New Delhi, Great Lakes Institute of Management (GLIM), Chennai, Symbiosis Law School, Noida, Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indore, CT Groups of Institutions, Shahpur, LKCTC, Jalandhar, Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, APJ College Jalandhar, participated in the contest.
The contest consisted of two rounds. In the first round, the teams were required to submit their business idea in the form of a PPT presentation, outlining the problem statement, solution, and market feasibility. Out of the 67 teams, only 21 teams made it to the final round.

The panel of judges included Mr. Vishal Sharma, Secretary of the Jalandhar Management Association (JMA), Dr. Ashish Arora from GNDU College, and Mr. Harish Gupta, President of Laghu Udyog Bharti.
Dr. Sandeep Vij, President of IIC, presented the prizes to the winners. Dr. Gitika Nagrath, Dean of CBME & Humanities, and Dr. Girish Taneja, Head of Department (HoD) of CBME, were also present at the occasion. The event was coordinated by Dr. Saloni Raheja and Mr. Kewal Krishan, Assistant Professors in the Commerce, Business Management, and Economics (CBME) Department.
