Growing trend among students towards Skill based courses – Dr. Neerja Dhingra

Jalandhar July 14 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, recognizes the rapid changes taking place in the society in the present times and, therefore, plays a crucial role in the development of skill-based programs. These programs are in sync with the National Education Policy 2020.

Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra stated that students are not only interested in studying abroad but they have shown keen interest in new skill based programs also. These students desire courses in the college that provide global exposure along with certification, even if they invest one or two years in any one of these courses. She also mentioned that today’s students want to achieve more in less time.

Consequently, the college offers B.Voc data science, B. Voc e- commerce and digital marketing, B. Voc product design management and entrepreneurship, Beauty and wellness, B.Voc health care management, B.Voc sound technology, theater, and dance, which are designed as per the needs of the time. Besides, these vocational courses students have shown their inclination towards mulmedia, design, applied arts and visual arts courses also.

She further added that vocational courses are beneficial for those students also who wish to go in for their own startup. These courses provide not only theoretical knowledge but also practical knowledge, which hones their skills and instills enough self-confidence in them to excel in their chosen field.
