
Jalandhar August 24 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Under the able guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. Mrs. Ajay Sareen, Freudian Psychological Society and Drishti Technology Centre for the visually challenged organised a Sensitisation Drive : A Compassionate step towards inclusion. The resource persons were Mrs. Seema Chopra (Social Activist) S. Amarjeet Singh Anand (State Disability Activist) Mrs. Deepika Sood ( NGO Saksham Punjab). They were welcomed by Dr. Ashmeen Kaur, Head P.G. department of Psychology and Dr. Prem Sagar, Head, Department of Music, with a planter and an art work prepared by the students of HMV as a token of love and appreciation.
Students of Department of Music sang a wonderful composition in order to celebrate the 77th Independence month. In the workshop Dr. Prem Sagar talked about the challenges faced by visually challenged people . He told students about “Be my eyes” app where they can volunteer and help visually challenged people. Mrs. Deepika shared her words of wisdom and told students about how visually challenged people use laptops and how they can read with screen reading softwares.

Mr. Amarjeet Singh Anand shared incidents where government turns a blind eye towards the needs of special children and how people should be empathetic towards these children. Mrs. Seema Anand Chopra talked about how people should be sensitive and empathetic towards people who are visually challenged or challenged in any other way. The session ended with an interactive question answer round with all the resource persons and students sharing their stories how they helped people with special needs. Ruhani of B voc. Sem 5 recited a wonderful poem on this topic.
Principal Prof. Dr. Ajay Sareen appreciated this initiative and congratulated the Department of Psychology and Drishti Technology Centre for organising workshop on such a sensitive topic. Ms. Ayushi ( B.A. sem 5) conducted the stage. Ms. Vanshika gave the formal vote of thanks On this occasion Ms. Shruti Bidani, Ms. Anjali Nandan, Ms. Nidhi Sharma were also present.
