Workshop organised under G20-Y20 Summit of Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of India

Jalandhar March 13 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya’s Institution’s Innovation Council organised a Workshop on “Entrepreneurship Skill, Attitude and Behaviour Development” under G20-Y20 Summit of Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of India. The workshop focused towards inculcating entrepreneurial spirit among young learners. The primary aim was to provide inputs on process and practice of entrepreneurship development, opportunity identification, business models, and inputs on resource and knowledge industries.

The workshop commenced with a thought-provoking address by Mr. Sidharath Shankar Sharma, Advisor to the Government. He discussed the pros of being self-employed and the contribution of start-ups and businesses in improving Indian economy. Mr. Sharma also highlighted some real-life examples of local businessmen and vendors that encouraged the students the actual value of being your own boss and earn a handsome amount of money. He also advised the students to have a bigger vision and creative ideas and ensured that the Government will always provide financial support as required.

Next session was conducted by Mr. Rajiv Chopra Chief Manager, Sales and Business Development, SBI. He explained in detail about the various business categories such as service sector and manufacturing sector along with examples. Furthermore, the concept of project cost, location cost, setup cost&loans were also discussed. He acquainted the audience about the pre-requisites of getting a loan from a bank when one wishes to start a new business. The next session was conducted by Mr. Harsh Parashar from Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Chandigarh.

A PowerPoint Presentation was delivered by Mr. Parashar in which he told the students about the objectives and eligibility criteria of applying to various schemes initiated by the Government of India such as Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Prime Minister’s Rozgar Yojana (PMRY) and Rural Employment Generation Programme (REGP). He also informed about various nodal agencies like KVIC, KVIBs and DICs. The online registration process to get financial assistance via these schemes and the process flow of getting EDP training from UDYAMI Portal was also showcased.

More than 150 students and 32 faculty members attended the workshop. It was a fruitful session for all the attendees as they learned a lot from resource persons’ skills, knowledge and experience in the area of entrepreneurship.Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi lauded the team KMV IIC for conducting this workshop. She averred that activities like this are must for the youth of our country for much-needed shift from beingJob-seekers of today to Job-Creators and Entrepreneurs of tomorrow.
