Jalandhar September 8 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organizedan e-talk on “Potential & Prospects of Apiculture in India” by Dr Pardeep Kumar Chhuneja, Professor Department of Entomology, Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana. The e talk was organized by PG Department of Zoology. More than 100 students participated in the event with full zeal and enthusiasm.
Dr. Chhuneja commenced his lecture with the introduction to Apiculture and briefed about their diversity, distribution and life cycle. The speaker highlighted the fact that beekeeping is highly rewarding, needs low initial investment, less timeand involves negligible expenses. Dr. Chhuneja also highlighted the fact that Punjab is the largest honey exporter state in the country having 47 countries as eager importers of its quality produce. He also discussed the emerging problems in apiculture in India and also highlighted the significance of various bee products.
Principal Prof. (Dr) Atima Sharma Dwivedi lauded the efforts of PG Department of Zoology for organizing the event successfully.
