
Citizens should be made aware about their Fundamental Duties along with the Fundamental Rights for the welfare of the state: Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi
Jalandhar November 12 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organized an online lecture on Legal Services Schemes, Fundamental Rights and Duties as per the guidelines of Office of the CJM-cum-Secretary District Legal Services Authority.The lecture was conducted in compliance with the legal awareness programme of the District Legal Services Authority for providing legal assistance to the marginalized sections of the society and poor beneficiaries to resolve their long standing legal issues under the umbrella of Empowerment of Citizens through Legal Awareness and Outreach-A PAN India Campaign.
The lecture was organized jointly by Department of Student Welfare, Department of Political Science and PG Department of English. Ms. Harpreet Kaur was the resource person during this event.Mrs Harpreet acquainted everyone about the various schemes launched by the government in order to provide justice to the people. She also said that every citizen should be aware about its Fundamental Rights as well as Duties so that he can contribute as much as possible to the welfare of the state.
After the lecture students asked their queries about the current performance of Indian judiciary concerning the issues of marginalized and poor sections of the society along with their possible remedies.Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that judicial system of any country is considered to be its backbone as it gives the citizens a sense of equality and justice. She further maintained that this kind of events aware the students about the judicial system of the country. Madam Principal lauded the efforts of Dr Madhumeet, Head, PG Department of English and Dr Iqbal Singh for successfully organizing the event.
