Lyallpur Khalsa College organized Annual Sports Congregation 2022

Jalandhar June 2 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, fulfilling it’s commitment to Sports beyond securing laurels in academics and culture organized Annual Sports Congregation 2022 in the premises of the college. Arjuna Awardee Shri Gurdev Singh Gill was the Chief Guest of the function. Principal of the college Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra welcomed the guests from various disciplines of Sports. The gathering included coaches from University, Punjab Sports department, Punjab Police, schools and other sports centres.

Dr Samra said that the college is dedicated to serve the youth in terms of education and good health. The college is regularly updating it’s sports infrastructure, equipment and technical know how in order to provide best facilities to its sports person. The college is fostering 35 games in line with Guru Nanak Dev University sports calendar. Last year the college has introduced renovated six a side hockey AstroTurf, two national standard Volleyball grounds, and concrete mat and grass pitch for cricket.

The college organised a separate prize distribution function

The college organised a separate prize distribution function distributing scholarships to deserving and outstanding student players. He informed the media that 15 players of Lyallpur Khalsa College participated and won medals in recently held Khelo India University Games representing Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. It was followed by detailed report presentation by Dr. Simranjeet Singh Bains, Dean Sports covering infrastructure upgrading, activities, extension activities, and achievements. He informed that the college secured first position in nine games, first runners up in seventeen games and second runners up in seven games in Guru Nanak Dev University inter college championships.

Shri Gurdev Singh Gill in his presidential address guided the coaches and staff members to remain focused, disciplined and imbibe skills in players beyond strength, speed, stamina and sense. It was followed by an interactive session where almost all the coaches discuss their concern, challenges and new government policies regarding Sports for better results in future. Lastly Dr. Bains thanked the august gathering for their presence in the function.

The stage was compered by Dr. Daljit Kaur. Prof. Hariom Verma, Prof. Amritpal Singh, Prof. Vikas, Prof. Satpal Singh, Prof. Karanbir Singh, Prof. Ajay and Prof. Manveer were also present beyond member of Physical Education and Sports department Mr. Amritlal Saini and Mr. Sunil Kumar.
