Lyallpur Khalsa College Annual Alumni Meet to Take Place on 5 December

Jalandhar November 24 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar is going to organise it’s annual alumni meet on December 5, 2023. This information was given by the College Principal Dr Jaspal Singh in a press conference today. Talking to the media persons, Dr .Jaspal Singh informed that the alumni meet was dedicated to Sardar Balbir Singh, the Ex member Loksabha and Rajya Sabha and the former president of the College Governing Council and also an alumnus of the institution on his birth anniversary. Dr. Singh also informed that in this meet around 400 to 500 former students were going to participate and both online and offline registrations were open for the same.

Talking about the current scenario of higher education in the state Dr Singh said that higher education institutions had been facing challenges due to multiple factors beyond their control. He requested the state common to release the pending amount of postmatric scholarship so that the Institutions might come out of the financial crunch they had been facing for a long time. He elaborated that the colleges were yet to receive from the government outstanding dues of years from 2017 to 2020, and apart from this, 70% of the scholarship amount of the previous session 2022-23 also had not credited into the account of the students, due to which the colleges had been facing serious financial crisis.

Dr Singh also informed that the preparations for the introduction of National Education Policy 2020 were going on, as per the directions of the Guru Nanak Dev University and state government. Prof. Jasreen Kaur Vice-Principal, Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Anand, Director Alumni, Prof. Hariom Verma, College Media Convener, Prof. Ahuja Sandeep and Prof. Surinder Pal Mand were also present on this occasion.
