
Jalandhar July 20 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar organised a Faculty Development programme on the topic – Innovative Pedagogical Practices in Higher Education. Dr. Ashwani Luthra, Director and Head, Guru Ramdas School of Planning Director; Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Co-ordinator, Center for Sustainable Habitat, Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar was present as Resource speaker. He addressed the college faculty in two sessions.
In his first session, he talked about “Teaching Methodologies and Teaching Learning Evaluation with Respect of National Education Policy 2020”. In his first lecture, he highlighted the importance of education and teachers while explaining the difference between education and knowledge. He said that not only education but knowledge, moral values andresearch capacity should be the criterion of evaluation for education and educational institutions.
Throwing light on the qualities of an ideal teacher, he explained the concept of Quality Development Programme of United Nation Sustainable Development, its objectives and the future vision. He asserted that a teacher’s place should always be above his institution. A teacher’s planning quality, his research skills and his rapport among the learners are what make him worthy of an institution.
Research and educational activities also enhance one’s knowledge and incorporation of values
An efficient and competent teacher not only always maintains the quality and uniformity of his education and knowledge but he remains a learner through out by learning day by day and upgrading his knowledge and skills. Research and educational activities also enhance one’s knowledge and incorporation of values and change in its education system should be the greatest ambition of any modern educational institute.
Modern education system 2020 is a living example of all these which includes everything from syllabus, quality research to holistic education in the form of e-content. It also emphasizes on international integration and cooperation as well as job creation and language independence.
Success of any teacher lies in the philosophy
In his second lecture on Teaching Learning Evaluation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education Institutes, he laid emphasis on evaluation methodology. He also explained AQAR and NAAC’s evaluations that focuses on objectives of quality assurance and the changes suggested as per the Modern Education Policy 2020. He also mentioned that success of any teacher lies in the philosophy who believes in “Good Better Best Until I Become Better and Better Become Best”.
At the end of these two sessions, Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra thanked Dr. Ashwini Luthra and discussed the activities of the college and the preparations and management policies of the college towards Modern Education Policy 2020. At the end of the FDP, Dr. Sunit Kaur thanked everyone for their presence and Madam Principal appreciated Dr. Anjana Kumari, Ms. Rajni Kumar and Dr. Payal Arora for successfully organizing this FDP.
