Jalandhar June 5 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- NSS units of Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar celebrated World Environment Day under Mission Life to spread awareness related to plantation, bird shelter and kitchen gardening. Principal Prof. Jasreen Kaur initiated the plantation drive in college campus and advised everyone to plant at least one plant at home. She added that plants need care for the initial phase of three months and we get benefitted for a long time.
Principal encouraged the efforts of NSS volunteers who made bird huts to be hung on trees. NSS Program Officer Prof. Satpal Singh said that NSS volunteers Disha Vij, Karandeep and others have made these bird shelters manually from waste wooden boards. Later, the volunteers hung these birdhouses on trees in the campus and collected plastic waste. Volunteers also distributed seeds of flowers and plants to the staff members for their kitchen gardens. It was a meaningful message by NSS Unit LKC to make everyone aware of flora and fauna that surrounds us.
During this event, Dean Student welfare Dr Surinder Pal Mand, Dean Cultural Affairs Dr. Palwinder Singh, HOD Music Prof. Sukhdev Singh, Prof. Ajitpal Singh, Prof. Manish Goel, Dr. Karanbir Singh, Prof. Vikas Kumar, P.O. Amandeep Kaur, PO Surbjit Singh, PO Heminder Singh, P.A. to Principal Surinder Kumar Chalotra were also present.
