Partition Horrors Rememberd in Khalsa College

Jalandhar August 13 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Partition Horrors Remembrance Day was celebrated today in Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar. In his message, the college Principal Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra congratulated the students and staff on the occasion of the Independence Day and said that communalism was a threat to humanity, and India in spite of being a land of ethnic diversity, had shown a good example of unity in diversity. He exhorted students to observe communal harmony and love so as to strengthen the feeling of unity in the nation.

The College Dean Academic Affairs Prof Jasreen Kaur, welcomed the participants and said that freedom of the country was accompanied by its bloody partition which invited sufferings for millions of people of the subcontinent and added it was imperative that Indians learnt a lesson from this. A PowerPoint presentation on the theme was shown and briefed by Dr Suman Chopra, head of department of History who informed the present about the historical aspects of the partition.

In the event , students presented songs on the theme of partition and independence.

The occasion was witnessed by the presence of senior teachers and students of the college.
