Jalandhar November 29 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Under the Buddy programme launched by Punjab Government to curb the menace of drug abuse, PCM S.D College for Women, Jalandhar organised a poster making Competition on the theme ‘Say No To Drugs’. The activity was organised by the Department of Student Welfare. Drug abuse has been Punjab’s constant concern and burden and youngsters are most vulnerable to this malpractice. Fulfilling its responsibility towards the society, PCM S.D college has pledged to fight against this evil practice and under the first-of-its-kind mission the college has made 9 groups of more than 45 students. In each group, there are 5 students and one of these 45 students is the Senior Buddy who leads her group members to participate in various activities concerning the prevention and awareness regarding drug abuse. The purpose of this activity was to generate awareness among students and they wholeheartedly participated by making evocative Posters and Paintings. In this competition, Vishali and Ruchika of B.Com Semester V got first, Ginni of B.Com Semester I bagged second and Simran of B.A.B.Ed Semester III grabbed third position. In addition to this, Pooja of B.A Semester III and Shaina of B.Com Semester V got consolation prizes. The members of the Managing Committee and the worthy Principal of the college Dr. (Mrs.) Pooja Prashar encouraged all the students to keep participating in these kind of activities and motivated them to keep spreading awareness in the society. The worthy Principal also lauded the efforts of Mrs Gurjit Kaur of the Dept. of English and the Nodal Officer of Buddy Program for organising the activity.
