Jalandhar July 19 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Van Mahotsav is an annual tree-planting festival in which thousands of trees are planted all over the country. Van Mahotsav is celebrated to bring in awareness about forest conservation and to save the environment. Students of the Collegiate Block were encouraged to contribute in the drive wholeheartedly since trees are natural air-purifiers.
Emphasizing the need to protect and conserve the environment, Principal Prof. (Dr.) Pooja Prashar said that it gives immense pleasure to see the high enthusiasm exhibited by the students who have come forth for the drive, which is encouraging, to mitigate the effect of climate change and help conserve the environment. She emphasized that it’s also important to nurture the saplings after planting to survive all odds and grow to full potential.
On this day, Poster Making competition was also organised by the department of Fine Arts. Jaspreet got first prize, Siya Verma made it to second position and Jasmeet got third prize. Neetu received the first consolation prize, Anisha got second prize and Kiran made it to third prize.
Members of the managing committee and Principal lauded the efforts of the students, staff members and the head of Collegiate Block, Mrs Sushma Sharma, as it was an enlightening activity for the good of the environment and that of mankind.
