Jalandhar August 1 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- PCM SD Collegiate Senior Secondary School celebrated ‘Teej‘ in all its resplendence and glory. Prof (Dr.) Pooja Prashar was the chief guest of the day. Students and staff members took part in all merriment. Students exhibited their intrinsic talents through folk dance like Giddah, Bhangra and folk song. Mehendi competition was also held.
A swing was laid down in the school premises to enliven the ancient heritage of the festival of Teej exemplifying love and fertility. The festival is observed every year in the monsoons as a cheery reminiscence to the Punjabi culture and its ambience by the newly-wedded women who visit their parents’ houses and revel in festive glee with their sisters and friends. It is worth mentioning that the festival is also celebrated in other parts of the country wherein it transcends religious boundaries.
Gurleen of XII Arts got first prize in the Mehendi competition, Kiran of XI Arts made it to second position and Gurleen of I Non Medical got third prize. Magnanimous management of the institution and Principal commended the endeavours of the students and Head of Collegiate Block, Mrs Sushma Sharma in perpetuating the legacy of the yearly fiesta across generations.
