
Jalandhar September 1 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Students of BA Journalism and Mass Communication of Apeejay College, College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar went to Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala and attended a one-day workshop on Science Journalism. In the workshop, the students were told that today the news is published without approaching from the scientific angle, especially in Punjabi journalism and due to this illogical news gets published and thus superstition and confusion spread amongst the people.
Also, the students were also told that if the new generation in language journalism moves forward having scientific approach, then the society can be saved from many evils, extravagances, superstitions and illusions. Hence, today there is a need for such young journalists who instead of getting attracted only towards sensational news, must focus on news having scientific basis and rid the society of misconceptions.
Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra expressing her views on this subject, said that it has always been our endeavour that our students should not be limited only to theoretical knowledge but should implement the knowledge practically and learn from the best. She appreciated the efforts of Dr Nivedita Khosla and Ms Avneet Kaur, from BA-JMC Department, for motivating the students to attend the workshop.
