Jalandhar January 17 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- On the second day of Faculty Development Programme on National Education Policy at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Dr. Sunit Kaur, Head of Department of English and Dr. Jagmohan Mago, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, were present as resource speakers.
Expressing her views on the significance of the programme, Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra said that the basic points of the National Education Policy 2020 were already included in the establishment of the college five decades ago. Dr. Stya Paul ji’s vision was eager to provide the best platform in the form of Apeejay educational institutions to make it’s students perfect in all arts. She added that according to the National Education Policy, not only students need to be well-rounded, but teachers will also have to engage themselves in various fields of knowledge for self-development.
Dr. Sunit Kaur, expressed her views on the importance of Multidisciplinary and Holistic education and said that the National Education Policy 2020 we are talking about today is a living example of the pages of India’s history. India has a long tradition of holistic and multidisciplinary learning, from universities such as Takshashila and Nalanda, to the extensive literatures of India combining subjects across fields.

She emphasized that we will be able to move forward in the international level of education only by connecting with our heritage and rich culture. Dr. Sunit very efficaciously explained the subtle difference between multi-disciplinary, interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary approach with effective examples.
Dr. Jagmohan Mago emphasised on the subject of Academic Bank of Credits, said that now students can get education by registering themselves in different institutions at the same time with their interest and convenience. ABC will serve as student’s universal roll number and their credits obtained from different institutions will be accumulated in it and the institution from which the student will do the DSC Discipline specific course can redeem these credits and award him a certificate, diploma or degree. He added that these credits will be valid for 7 years.
Dr. Supreet Talwar, Head of Economics Department, expressed gratitude to Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra for organising faculty development programme on such an important and thought-provoking topic and resource speakers Dr. Sunit Kaur and Dr. Jagmohan Mago.
